Where it all began
Perkology started back in 2015 when founders James and Rosalind began their mission to get good quality pre-loved books into the arms of fellow book lovers.
From the very start we knew that books could help encourage, inspire, and motivate but we soon realised the scale of the opportunity there was to build a business that could give back to society while allowing us to pursue a passion for pre-loved books.
What’s changed?
We have our kitchen back; and the living room and the hall way and the spare bedroom…..sort of!
We have everything from bestsellers, to classics and curiosities and then of course there are the thousands of books that we haven’t even got to yet, just waiting to find a new home.
Doing Good.
We love books and we HATE to see books going to landfill, that is why we work with several recycling partners to ensure that NOTHING, ZILCH, ZERO goes to landfill. You may even find that the packaging that we use to protect your books on the way to you is repurposed from the multitude of boxes that come in.
Just because a book has been well read and maybe a little mishandled it does not mean that the book has reached its end of life.
There are many ways that we can help these books find their new purpose. After all a good book is there to educate, entertain, enlighten, empower and overall be enjoyed and a mark here or a missing dust jacket there is not going to prevent that from happening.
As well as finding their way to thousands and thousands of new homes for people to read our books have been donated to charities, local schools and fundraising events.
Books aren’t just for reading. Our books have made it onto film sets, art projects and even the odd wedding and they are just some of the many ways that our pre-loved books get another chance in life.
Where to From Here…
It’s pretty simple really, save more books from ending up in landfill, reduce the environmental impact of overproduction, maximize the lifespan of quality resources, make it easier for book lovers to give a used books a second chance and most importantly to make you smile.
