The Winter 2022 issue of The Poetry Review is guest edited by Denise Saul and W.N. Herbert who have the following aims for their issue: “When as individuals we experience too much change, especially change marked or caused by loss, we are forced to pause and take stock. It is one of the times we turn to poetry, and the elegy is perhaps the key mode we reach for to steady us. It is not always easy to draw a line through loss and mourning – whether of the personal or the public. We do not pass through the process in a linear manner. The Winter issue attempts a reaching out and an assaying of the poetry scene, an account of the countries of verse and a reckoning of the regions of rhyme. Our contributors consider where our publishing, performance, and practice is at in the ‘post’-pandemic, post-everything present with presses, magazines, and anthologies. How are we, wherever we are?’”
