Why giants? Well, the first piece commissioned for this, our sixth short book of long stories, was about a literal giant, the blue whale. Simon Barnes’s cautious optimism about this mighty creature seemed a good place to start. But then a metaphorical giant came along: Rachael Blackmore. When she won the Grand National, she beat not only the field but hundreds of years of myth and misogyny.
Contributors include Simon Barnes, Paul Caruana Galizia, Michael Henderson, Lydia Hislop and Joanna Jolly.
